Thorp Design is a multidisciplinary studio spanning interiors, architecture, landscape and art curation. Founded by Philippa Thorp in 1985, we have discreetly set the standard for private client design for over four decades, working on some of the world’s most exceptional residences. We’re seeking an Architectural Assistant (RIBA Part II) to join our team full-time at our Sloane Street studio.

We’re looking for someone who notices the small things (and cares about them), brings ideas to the table, and enjoys seeing a project through properly. Highly organised and self‑motivated, you’re as comfortable working independently as you are collaborating with a wider team, consultants and clients. You’re adaptable, eager to learn, and ready to get stuck into complex, high‑quality projects from day one.
Job Overview:
- Assist in the development of technical design packages from concept through to construction stages
- Produce detailed architectural drawings, including construction details, joinery, and bespoke components
- Ability to coordinate and produce BIM models using Vectorworks BIM and/or Revit in accordance with project standards (optimal)
- Collaborate closely with senior architects, engineers, and consultants to ensure design and technical compliance
- Prepare planning and building regulation submissions
- Support construction-phase activities, including site visits, responding to RFIs and updating design documents as required
- Create high-quality 3D models and visualisations to support design presentations
- Manage and organise project documentation in line with office and project standards
- Participate in internal project reviews and contribute to technical problem-solving
- Exposure to international projects is advantageous, particularly where adaptation to local codes and construction methods are required
Qualifications:
- Degree in Architecture (RIBA Part II required)
- Strong technical design skills with a solid understanding of construction methods and materials
- Excellent 3D modelling skills in tools such as SketchUp, or similar
- Comprehensive understanding of UK Building Regulations and construction standards
