About the role

Take the lead on complex and high-value trusts within our highly regarded Private Client team

We’re looking for an experienced Trust Manager to join our highly regarded Trust Advisory and Compliance team.

Working alongside colleagues from our wider Private Client team, you will run your own portfolio of trust clients’ including charitable trusts and private family trusts.

You will take the lead on providing advice on the daily administration, trust compliance, tax advice and accounts.

You will be at the forefront of building trusted relationships with clients and beneficiaries, to deliver exception client service.

You’ll have the opportunity to use your technical expertise across a varied portfolio of trusts, while also playing an important role in supporting and developing junior colleagues.

It’s a role that combines technical knowledge, client relationships and leadership, with genuine scope to make a difference to both our clients and our wider team.

It's about

• Managing complex trusts - Taking the lead on the administration of complex and high-value trusts, including providing advice on the establishment and winding up of trusts, maintaining accurate records, adhering to all regulatory compliance requirements and working closely with other professionals to bring a collaborative approach to the clients’ experience.
• Using your expertise - Applying your knowledge of trusts, taxation and fiduciary responsibilities to the advice provided to our extensive portfolio of trust clients.

You will have a keen interest in keeping up to date with all legal, taxation and regulatory developments.

• Building trusted client relationships - Acting as a key point of contact for clients and beneficiaries, providing clear and thoughtful guidance and handling sensitive family and financial matters with discretion, empathy and professionalism.
• Working collaboratively - Working closely with both colleagues and intermediaries to provide a joined-up approach to trust management and achieve the best outcomes for clients.
• Supporting and developing others - Sharing your knowledge and experience with junior colleagues, helping them develop their technical skills and confidence while contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team.
• Shaping our trust service - Contributing to the continued development of our trust services, identifying opportunities to improve how we work and helping deliver an excellent experience for clients.
• What you’ll need
• Experience managing a portfolio of trusts, ideally including complex or high-value trusts.
• Strong knowledge of trust law and taxation, particularly in the areas of Income Tax, IHT, CGT and regulatory trust compliance
• STEP or ATT qualifications would be ideal but are not essential.
• Confidence dealing with clients and beneficiaries and explaining complex matters in a clear and approachable way.
• Experience arranging, administering and conducting trustee meetings.
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to take ownership of a varied workload.
• A collaborative and supportive approach, with the confidence to share your knowledge and help develop others.
• A calm, professional and considered approach when dealing with sensitive or complex matters.
• A commitment to maintaining high professional standards and keeping your knowledge up to date.
