About the role
As Social Media Lead, you will play a key role in growing Thorntons’ digital presence and strengthening the firm’s reputation across social platforms. You will support the delivery of high-quality social media activity that enhances brand visibility, engages priority audiences, and showcases the firm’s expertise and thought leadership.
Reporting to the Digital Marketing Manager, you will manage day-to-day activity across the firm’s social channels, creating and coordinating compelling content while ensuring consistency with the firm’s brand and tone of voice. You will monitor performance, track engagement and identify opportunities to innovate as social media trends evolve, including real‑time marketing opportunities and supporting alignment with paid social campaigns. This is a creative and fast‑paced role that combines content creation, campaign delivery and performance analysis. Your work will help ensure Thorntons’ social media presence is professional, engaging and aligned with the firm’s wider marketing and communications strategy.
Responsibilities
- Social Media Strategy & Channel Management – supporting the development and delivery of social media activity across platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube, maintaining a consistent posting schedule and growing the firm’s digital presence.
- Content Creation & Coordination – producing and coordinating engaging social content including posts, articles, video clips, graphics and short‑form content, working with lawyers, subject matter experts and creative specialists to showcase the firm’s expertise using multimedia and video editing tools where appropriate.
- Campaign Support – planning and delivering social campaigns that support marketing initiatives, events, recruitment activity and thought leadership programmes, ensuring alignment with paid social activity where relevant.
- Community Engagement – monitoring and responding to comments, messages and mentions, encouraging meaningful engagement with clients, prospects and followers while ensuring professional and timely responses.
- Digital Innovation & Trends – staying informed about emerging social media trends, formats and algorithms, and identifying opportunities to experiment with new approaches and platforms. Proactively advising partners and colleagues on best practice and ensuring the firm adapts to ongoing platform and algorithm changes.
- Performance & Reporting – monitoring reach, engagement and website traffic, producing reports and insights to help refine future social media activity.
- Brand & Governance – ensuring all social media activity aligns with the firm’s brand, tone of voice, regulatory obligations, approvals processes and professional standards.
- Collaboration – liaising closely with the wider Marketing and Communications team.
What you’ll need
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills for digital audiences.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, algorithms and analytics tools.
- Experience creating engaging content for social platforms, including graphics, multimedia and video editing.
- Confidence collaborating with colleagues, subject matter experts and external partners.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- A creative mindset combined with attention to detail and sound judgement.
- Analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify opportunities to improve engagement.
- Knowledge of advertising platforms (e.g., Google Ads, Facebook Ads) is desirable.
