About the role

In this senior role in our Private Client team, you’ll oversee the administration of complex and high-value trusts, guide clients through sensitive and technical matters, and support the development of junior team members. It’s about:

  • Trust Administration
    • Taking the lead on complex trust matters, from asset transfers and investment monitoring to strategic interactions with beneficiaries.
    • Ensuring trust structures remain compliant with changing regulations and best practice.
    • Managing the preparation and submission of Inheritance Tax (IHT) returns with precision.
    • Overseeing detailed financial reports and maintaining accurate trust records.
    • Collaborating closely with legal, tax and financial advisers to ensure holistic trust management.
  • Client Relationships
    • Acting as a key point of contact for clients and beneficiaries, offering thoughtful, strategic guidance on complex issues.
    • Building long-term, trusted relationships with individuals and families through empathetic, professional support.
    • Handling sensitive information and family dynamics with discretion, integrity, and care.
  • Team Leadership and Development
    • Supporting and mentoring junior colleagues, sharing your legal and taxation knowledge to help them grow.
    • Fostering collaboration and encouraging high standards across the team.
    • Contributing to continuous improvement in our trust services and internal processes.

What you’ll need

We’re looking for someone who brings not only technical expertise but also a genuine passion for client service and team development. You’ll need:

  • Proven experience managing trusts, ideally in a senior capacity.
  • Strong legal and tax knowledge, particularly around IHT, CGT and fiduciary duties.
  • Excellent communication skills—you’re confident guiding clients through difficult decisions and technical matters.
  • Experience of arranging, administering, and conducting trustee meetings.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • A collaborative, solution-focused mindset and a calm, composed approach under pressure.
  • Integrity, professionalism, and a strong ethical compass in everything you do.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and staying ahead of legal and regulatory developments.
