As Internal Communications Manager, you will play a central role in shaping how colleagues connect with Thorntons’ strategy, culture and leadership. You will deliver clear, timely and engaging communication that builds understanding, strengthens engagement and fosters pride in the firm. Working closely with the Head of Communications and partnering with the Chief People Officer and People Team you will help ensure alignment between Communications, People and leadership priorities.
You will lead major firmwide communication moments across multiple channels, support senior leaders in delivering confident and consistent messaging, and oversee the ongoing development of the firm’s intranet, JACK, as a trusted and engaging source of information for colleagues. This role combines strategic planning, creative storytelling and stakeholder engagement to ensure internal communication across the firm is clear, inclusive and aligned with Thorntons’ values and brand.
It’s about:
- Internal Communications Strategy – developing and delivering the firm’s internal communications strategy, creating structured plans and communication calendars that ensure messages are clear, coordinated and effective and internal communications promote the firm’s brand identity and adhere to the firm’s tone of voice.
- Leadership & Strategic Messaging – supporting senior leaders to communicate with confidence, clarity and transparency, and shaping messaging around firmwide announcements, strategic priorities and major internal moments including ‘town hall’ events, ensuring all internal communications support the firm’s commercial objectives.
- Channels & Content Management – overseeing the development and management of JACK, ensuring it is an intuitive and engaging hub for colleagues, while commissioning and coordinating high‑quality internal content across a variety of channels and formats, including a monthly newsletter.
- Culture & Engagement Initiatives – partnering with the People Team to support wellbeing initiatives, engagement programmes, staff surveys, promotions and other key colleague lifecycle moments.
- Events & Firmwide Communications – leading internal communication for major moments such as colleague conferences, firmwide announcements and online town hall events.
- Measurement & Continuous Improvement – gathering colleague feedback, monitoring engagement data and using insights to refine communication approaches and improve effectiveness.
- Stakeholder Collaboration – building strong relationships across the firm and working closely with leadership, business teams and external suppliers and managing relationships with suppliers, agencies and platform vendors to deliver high‑quality communication initiatives.
What you’ll need:
