The Role
The Senior Revit/BIM Modeler will perform the functions of creating project deliverable drawings and models using the current versions of available software. Work includes 3D modeling, representation and annotation of 3D information in 2D drawings, 2D detailing for complex projects and support with oversight and management of other BIM modelers. The candidate should be able to work in a self-directed manner in all aspects of the building design and document production process.
Responsibilities
- Create and prepare 3D BIM models and deliverables with a high degree of accuracy that reflect the design intent to ensure they meet Thornton Tomasetti standards, Client requirements and project BIM Execution Plan.
- Create plans, sections, elevations, details, 3D views, and renderers from a 3D BIM model for projects of various sizes and technical complexity.
- Setup and geo-locate multiple models for a single project within the Revit environment.
- Manage and maintain the BIM model data to ensure it is correct, adheres to project requirements, and is available to all relevant stakeholders.
- Perform quality assurance reviews prior to submissions and assist with data upload to the project’s common data environment.
- Interface with engineers, our clients, and other consultants through clear communication and drawings. Interact with our clients to coordinate BIM modeling content.
- Assist in supervising and mentoring junior BIM modelers.
Requirements
- Comprehensive knowledge of Revit and experience with the Autodesk design package, which includes Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
- Experience in working with digital platforms, particularly BIM360/ACC and its collaborative modules.
- Thorough understanding of building components to model structural components accurately and efficiently, ensuring the integrity of the structural model.
- Knowledge of how to coordinate and interface with the other Revit disciplines, such as architecture and MEP.
- Working knowledge of standard construction techniques, drawing production and ISO 19650 compliance in the BIM environment.
- A willingness to learn new skills and techniques, such as parametric/generative modelling, Dynamo and scripting and working to ISO 19650 standards.
- Minimum of 5 years\’ experience in a senior technician position with excellent attention to detail and a thorough understanding of building structures.
Qualifications
- Degree in related discipline (Civil Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, etc). (HNC, HND or BEng).
