A recognized leader in security services – with more than 60 years of experience – we collaborate with clients and project teams to develop physical, technical, and operational security solutions for facilities of every type, use, and size.

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Structural Project Engineer to join our Protective Design & Security practice, working on projects in high-security environments. You will apply core structural engineering skills on a range of traditional building projects, while also developing specialist expertise in blast and protective design.

In this role you will take responsibility for the delivery of small to medium-scale projects, often leading and coordinating multidisciplinary design teams (including architecture, MEP and other specialists). You will support senior colleagues on larger, more complex projects and have the opportunity to contribute to some of the most challenging and rewarding schemes in the sector.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver structural engineering designs for buildings in high-security environments, from concept through to construction.
  • Lead and manage small to medium-scale projects, including planning, resourcing, programme and quality control.
  • Coordinate input from other design disciplines (architecture, MEP, civil, specialist consultants) to ensure fully integrated design solutions.
  • Attend client, design team and coordination meetings; present and explain structural design solutions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support the development of protective design and blast engineering solutions under the guidance of specialist colleagues.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative, knowledge-sharing culture within the practice.

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or closely related discipline); a relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
  • Chartered or working towards chartership with a recognised professional body (e.g. ICE, IStructE).
  • Proven experience as a structural engineer delivering building projects, ideally including some exposure to security or defence environments.
  • Experience coordinating with other design disciplines and managing interfaces on multidisciplinary projects.

Due to the nature of the work, the successful candidate will need to be able to obtain United Kingdom security vetting clearance. Eligibility requirements depend on individual circumstances.
