Thornton Tomasetti is looking for an IT Specialist with a broad technical skillset, excellent communication skills and the ability to work and collaborate with the wider IT Team. This on-site role includes a mix of desktop support, IT Infrastructure support and system administration, ensuring availability of the local IT Infrastructure and the protection of core assets and systems delivering essential functions at our Edinburgh (Dalgety Bay) location.

The Role

  • Desktop Support (1st- and 2nd-level); helping local office and remote users with IT support issues, printing, software installs, user education.
  • Systems Administrator (1st-level) which includes:
  • Network; installing, configuring and supporting Network equipment, including Routers, Firewalls, Switches, UPS devices. Must be comfortable in a Server Room and supporting the Local IT Infrastructure.
  • Servers & Systems; install, configure and support Windows Server environment, clusters, storage, print services, backup and disaster recovery.
  • User Administration; day-to-day user administration including creating/deleting users, applying security permissions and group policies.
  • Software; maintain and update Operating Systems, security tools and end-user software.
  • IT Security & Compliance (1st-level); point person for IT Compliance and maintenance of local documentation, Asset Management, management of local technical and security controls and data confidentiality, integrity and availability. Annual renewal of Cyber Essentials Plus certification.

    Requirements

    • Excellent technical knowledge of Dell computer and Server hardware.
    • Broad knowledge of LAN, WAN, Wireless, Security and Software Deployment technologies.
    • Knowledge of server and storage-based virtualization technologies.
    • A Defence or Government background would be advantageous. Some UK and international travel as required.

    Qualifications

    • Diploma or university degree in Computing or equivalent experience.
    • Professional IT certifications such as CompTIA Security+, MCP, MCSA, MCSE, CCNA.
    • The successful candidate will need to obtain UK Security clearance.
