We have an opportunity for an Engineer Intern to join our Applied Science practice at our Warrington office in the Summer of 2026 for 3 months.

Responsibilities
  • Engaged in structural modelling such as dynamic loading on concrete or steel systems.
  • Researching and developing constitutive models for use in a range of finite element analysis (FEA) applications.
  • Building FEA models and running analyses.
  • Updating and translating VBA and MATLAB based models to Python.
  • Writing results up in the form of technical documents.
  • Presenting to potential users at the end of the internship.

Full training will be provided and there is opportunity to support day-to-day project work for Thornton Tomasetti’s clients providing the successful applicant with valuable experience of the role of a specialist engineering consultant.

Qualifications
  • Undergraduate or graduate student in Engineering, Applied Mechanics or a related discipline.
  • Excellent academic record.
  • Experience in programming would be useful.
  • Enthusiasm for engineering and problem solving essential.
  • Due to the nature of the work, the successful candidate will need to be able to obtain UK government security clearance. Eligibility requirements depend on individual circumstances.
