We are looking for a Debt Recovery Manager to lead our in-house debt recovery operations, overseeing both residential and commercial arrears. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with a solid background in debt recovery, legal processes, and team management, ready to take full ownership of procedures, team performance, and stakeholder relationships.
The role involves:
- Managing a debt recovery team responsible for chasing unpaid rent from tenants and outstanding balances from businesses.
- Overseeing insurance claims for unpaid rent under Rent Guarantee or Legal Expenses policies.
- Working closely with solicitors to coordinate possession proceedings and progress legal claims.
- Attending court hearings or possession proceedings as required, including handling counterclaims and defences.
- Conducting or supervising debt recovery inspections and ensuring accurate reporting.
- Reviewing and improving existing debt recovery processes and implementing new procedures where necessary.
- Supporting team members with training, guidance, and oversight of complex or escalated cases.
- Responding to complaints professionally and efficiently, identifying root causes and learning outcomes.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with landlords and external partners.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has substantial experience in debt recovery, ideally with both residential and commercial cases.
- Has a good working knowledge of possession procedures.
- Has proven leadership skills, with experience supporting or managing a team.
- Hass good written and verbal communication skills.
- Brings a proactive and process-driven mindset, with strong attention to detail.
- Can confidently handle court attendance and contribute to legal strategy.
- Is highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
