Salary: £14.00 per hour

Contract: Part time, temporary (until end of January 2026, with potential to extend)

Hours: 21 hours - Sunday 10am-4pm, Monday & Tuesday 9am-5pm

Russell Churcher Court is part of Thorngate Churcher Trust, a respected not-for-profit organisation recognised for providing exceptional care and a warm, community-minded environment for residents and their families.

We are urgently seeking a Temporary Receptionist to join our team and ensure our reception is consistently covered over the coming months. This is a vital role at the heart of our home, and we are looking for someone who can deliver an outstanding customer experience from the moment anyone walks through the door.

If you are friendly, organised, calm under pressure and confident in providing first-class service, we would love to hear from you. This role is available immediately, and we are looking to appoint as soon as possible.

As our Receptionist, you will be responsible for:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for all visitors, callers and suppliers.
  • Monitoring and controlling the safe movement of people entering and leaving the building.
  • Supporting tours for prospective residents and their families when required.
  • Encouraging visitors to leave feedback and signpost them to relevant review platforms.
  • Building positive relationships with families and visitors to support a pleasant visiting experience.
  • Listening to residents' queries and concerns, ensuring messages reach the correct team member promptly.
  • Handling telephone enquiries professionally, including online and sending out brochures or information packs as needed.
  • Liaising with housing, maintenance, accounts, IT and Head Office teams to support smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Preparing letters, emails, notices, posters and other written communications.
  • Maintaining accurate resident records, filing systems and documentation in line with Data Protection requirements.
  • Managing incoming and outgoing mail each day.
  • Ordering name badges, stationery, cleaning supplies and other items.
  • Providing administrative support to the Registered Manager and senior team.

In order to be successful in this role, it's essential that you have / be:

  • Experienced receptionist with strong customer service skills
  • IT literate, confident with Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Patience and empathy when dealing with residents and families
  • Calm under pressure
  • Polite, self-confident and professional
  • A proactive team player
  • Reliable, hard-working and committed to delivering a positive experience for all
  • Willingness to learn and attend training
  • Able to use initiative and comfortable deputising for the Care Manager if required

It would be great if you had:

  • Office / administration qualification
  • Experience working in a residential care environment, particularly with residents living with dementia
