A quality-focused housing developer is seeking an experienced Assistant Site Manager for a new build development located in Wombourne. This role suits candidates with strong knowledge of traditional new build housing and new housing developments. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high-quality residential projects, ensuring health and safety compliance and efficient site operations.

Job Duties

  • Support the Site Manager in the planning, organisation and supervision of site activities to ensure the timely delivery of new build housing projects.
  • Oversee and monitor subcontractors and tradespeople on site to maintain quality standards and adherence to project specifications.
  • Implement and maintain health and safety protocols in line with statutory requirements and company policies.
  • Assist in managing site resources including labour, materials and plant to optimise efficiency and minimise waste.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of daily site reports, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and contractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify and resolve any issues affecting progress or quality.
  • Support the resolution of on-site problems and escalate where necessary to the Site Manager.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean, safe and organised work environment throughout the construction process.

Required Qualifications

  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certification.
  • Valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
  • Current First Aid qualification.
  • Full, clean driving licence.

Experience

  • Proven experience working as an Assistant Site Manager or similar role within the construction sector.
  • Demonstrable experience in new build housing developments, with a focus on traditional construction methods.
  • Track record of delivering high-quality developments, being part of an NHBC PIJ award winning team is desired.
  • Experience in managing subcontractors and site teams effectively.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials and best practices for new build housing.
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice on construction sites.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with site teams, contractors and suppliers.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Competency in using site management software and digital tools for reporting and documentation.

Working Conditions

  • Work is primarily outdoors on active construction sites, with exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Full-time hours required, with occasional overtime depending on project demands.
