Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a local council to recruit Refuse Loaders for temp to perm positions. This is a physically demanding outdoor role, ideal for candidates who enjoy staying active, working as part of a team, and contributing to essential public services.
You will be working outdoors in all weather conditions, walking and lifting for up to 10 hours per day, supporting the smooth and efficient operation of the council’s waste and recycling service.
Responsibilities- Loading and unloading household waste and recycling bins
- Working as part of a refuse collection team
- Completing different collection rounds when required
- Ensuring bins are emptied safely and efficiently
- Delivering food waste caddies to members of the public
- Walking up to 20,000 steps per day in a physically demanding role
- Supporting the daily operation of the council refuse service
- Able to drive and commute to the depot for a 5:45am start
- Hold a full UK Driving Licence
- Prefer early starts with potential early finishes (task-and-finish)
- Physically fit with a strong work ethic
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Own PPE required (safety boots and hi-vis vest)
- Reliable, professional, and positive in attitude
- Pay Rate: £12.21 per hour
- Permanent Rate: £13.74 per hour (once permanent)
- Shift Pattern: Tuesday to Friday
- Hours: 5:45am – 3:45pm
Full training and induction provided before starting. As you will be representing the local council, professionalism, reliability, and a positive attitude are essential at all times.
