About the Role

A market leading construction business has an exciting new project in Andover, developing a brand new supermarket. We are seeking a Senior Site Manager to take full responsibility for the successful delivery of this new build retail development. This role demands a proactive individual with strong leadership capabilities and proven experience managing medium to large scale construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organise and control all site activities to ensure the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
  • Manage and supervise subcontractors, suppliers and site operatives, maintaining effective communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Implement and uphold health and safety regulations and procedures, conducting regular site inspections and risk assessments.
  • Oversee site progress and prepare detailed reports for senior management and clients as required.
  • Monitor resource allocation, including labour, materials and equipment, to optimise efficiency and minimise waste.
  • Resolve day-to-day operational issues promptly to maintain project momentum and prevent delays.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and contractual obligations throughout the project.
  • Lead site meetings, coordinating with design teams, clients and statutory bodies to ensure alignment and address any challenges.
  • Maintain accurate site records including daily logs, safety documentation, and quality control checks.

Essential Qualifications and Certifications

  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) Certificate
  • Valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card
  • Current First Aid qualification
  • Full driving licence, clean and valid

Education and Experience

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager or Senior Site Manager within the construction industry, ideally with a focus on new build retail developments.
  • Strong track record of managing projects from inception to completion in line with programme and budget.
  • Relevant construction-related qualifications or equivalent experience.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods, materials and health and safety legislation.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of liaising effectively with clients, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Competent in project management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 6 in Construction Site Management or equivalent.
  • Experience working on new build supermarkets such as Aldi or Lidl.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time contract position based on site in Andover, Hampshire.
  • Work primarily outdoors on an active construction site, subject to varying weather conditions.
  • Occasional requirement to work extended hours or weekends to meet project deadlines.
  • Compliance with all site safety protocols and personal protective equipment regulations is mandatory.
