Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment is supporting our local council in hiring a committed Class 2 Driver/Loader to join their waste and recycling team in Worksop. If you enjoy a balance of driving and hands-on outdoor work, this is an excellent opportunity to secure a steady, long-term role with great hours.
The Role
This position involves a rough 50/50 split between driving and refuse loading. Some days will be fully driving, other days will be walking the route with the crew, and completing manual tasks. It’s an active, outdoor role — ideal for someone who enjoys variety.
Key Responsibilities
- Load and empty refuse and recycling bins across Worksop and nearby areas (approx. 50% of the shift)
- Drive a Class 2 refuse collection vehicle safely and in line with road and council regulations (approx. 50% of the shift)
- Support the crew with manual handling and walking between collection points
- Complete routes efficiently and work closely with your team
- Follow all Health & Safety rules during both driving and loading
- Provide good customer service when interacting with residents
What We’re Looking For
- Class 2 (Category C) licence
- Valid CPC and digital tachograph card
- Comfortable with a physical, outdoor job
- Someone flexible and willing to switch between driving and loading
- Previous refuse or manual labour experience is helpful but not essential
