We are recruiting on behalf of a leading provider in the civil infrastructure sector, specialising in the bespoke manufacture of safety-critical concrete products for the UK rail industry. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced operational leader to take ownership of a busy and highly technical manufacturing site.
The Role
Lead day-to-day operations in a fast-paced environment producing bespoke concrete components.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards at all times.
Manage a team of 4 direct reports and around 30 staff (a mix of permanent and agency).
Plan labour and resources to adapt to fluctuating production volumes (typically 4,000β8,000 linear metres per month).
Oversee stock and supplier management to guarantee uninterrupted production.
Drive environmental and sustainability targets, including carbon reduction.
Make key operational decisions early in the day (from 6am onwards) to ensure production targets are consistently met.
Solve complex challenges quickly and effectively, ensuring efficiency and delivery of projects on time, every time.
About You
Proven leadership experience in concrete manufacturing, heavy industry or engineering.
Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental compliance (IOSH/NEBOSH desirable).
A confident and proactive decision-maker, especially under pressure.
Skilled in managing production fluctuations and material/stock challenges.
Experience leading and managing mixed teams (permanent and agency staff).
Proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel (ERP/SAP experience an advantage).
Salary & Benefits
Β£45,000 β Β£55,000 per annum (depending on experience).
40+ hours per week with expected flexibility to meet operational needs.
Annual performance-related bonus (2β4%, based on personal and business performance).
