Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with a leading manufacturing business that supplies high-specification parts and components to the aerospace industry. We are currently recruiting for a Water Jet Cutting Production Operative to join their growing CAD design and cutting facility.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with waterjet, laser, or plasma cutting experience who is physically fit and looking for a long-term, permanent opportunity with training and progression.
Key Responsibilities:
- Uploading cutting files into the water jet control system
- Setting up machinery, including loading raw materials (heavy manual handling required)
- Operating CNC water jet, laser, or plasma cutting equipment
- Digging out beds and maintaining drainage systems this is a hands-on, industrial role
- Assisting with basic CAD design tasks or interpreting CAD drawings
- Working closely with the engineering and production teams to meet quality and deadline requirements
Key Requirements:
- Previous experience in water jet, laser, or plasma cutting is essential
- Mechanically minded with the ability to handle tools and equipment safely
- Basic understanding of CAD design or willingness to be trained
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling and industrial work environments
- Committed to securing a long-term, permanent position through temporary assignment
- Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or machine operation is advantageous
- FLT license (desirable but not essential)
Working Hours:
Bi-Weekly Rotating Shift Pattern:
- Week 1: 6:00am 2:30pm (Mon-Thurs), 6:00am 10:00am (Fri)
- Week 2: 9:30am 6:00pm (Mon-Thurs), 10:00am 2:00pm (Fri)
Pay & Benefits:
- GBP13.18 – GBP13.70 per hour depending on experience
- Overtime paid at premium rates:
- Monday to Saturday: 1.5x pay
- Sundays & Bank Holidays: 2x pay
