Thorn Baker Recruitment have the exciting opportunity to recruit for a Technical Manager for our client based in Nottingham. You will lead the engineering team and oversee the delivery of innovative electronic products from concept through to manufacture.
About the Role:
The Technical Manager is responsible for leading the technical direction of engineering projects and ensuring the successful delivery of electronic products from initial concept through to full-scale production. This role combines technical expertise, team leadership, and project oversight. The successful candidate will act as the bridge between design engineering, manufacturing, and the customer, ensuring that all products are technically robust, manufacturable, and delivered on time.
Pay & Benefits:
- Starting salary £40,000 per annum
- 20 Days holiday + 8 days bank holidays
- Working Monday - Thursday 8:30am - 5pm & Friday 8:30am - 2pm
- Statutory pension scheme

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Involved in the full lifecycle of electronic product development from concept through to production.
- Lead and manage a team of electronics technicians and manufacturing operators.
- Ability to interpret electronic circuit diagrams and fault find to component level.
- Ensure designs are optimised for manufacture, cost, and reliability.
- Support project planning, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Drive continuous improvement across engineering and production processes.
What we need from you:
- Experience working in a contract electronics manufacturing environment.
- Previous leadership or team management experience in a SME Business.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture.
- Knowledge of quality standards.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Have a mechanical mindset (desirable).
