Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment are recruiting Refuse Loaders, Waste Operatives and Bin Loaders for ongoing work with a local council in the Eckington / Wingerworth / Chesterfield area. This is a physically demanding outdoor role, ideal for candidates who enjoy hands-on work, staying active and working as part of a team.

Previous experience in labouring, construction, landscaping, warehouse work, recycling, refuse collection or other physical roles is preferred. Please note: Due to the council operating from two depot locations, a Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own transport is essential.

The Role

  • Collecting household waste and recycling from residential properties
  • Loading refuse and recycling into collection vehicles
  • Working as part of a refuse collection team
  • Regular manual handling and heavy lifting
  • Walking long distances throughout the working day
  • Working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Supporting street cleansing and environmental duties when required

Requirements

  • Full UK Driving Licence and own transport essential
  • Previous experience in refuse, waste, recycling, labouring, warehouse, construction, landscaping or other physical work preferred
  • Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling
  • Reliable, punctual and hardworking
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Safety boots and high-vis required

Hours & Pay

  • Monday to Friday 6:30am – 3:00pm
  • £12.71 per hour, increasing to £13.05 per hour after 13 weeks' service
  • Ongoing work
