We are seeking a motivated and reliable 7.5T Driver to join our inclusive and diverse team. This role is integral to ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods while prioritising safety, customer satisfaction, and professional standards. The ideal candidate will be dependable, demonstrate excellent driving, organisational & customer service skills, and uphold all legal driving requirements.
Responsibilities
- Safe and responsible home delivery driving of a 7.5-tonne vehicle in compliance with road transportation laws and company policies.
- Assisting with product installation according to company standards.
- 2-man delivery (driver & installer).
- Liaising with customers providing a polite & professional service.
- Conducting pre- and post-journey vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness.
- Delivering goods to various customers, ensuring timely and efficient service.
- Loading and unloading items, which may involve manual handling.
- Completing all required delivery paperwork accurately and promptly.
- Using a CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) and a valid Digi Tacho Card to maintain legal and regulatory standards.
- Communicating effectively with dispatch teams and customers to resolve issues and provide exceptional service.
- Adhering to Health & Safety guidelines at all times.
- Representing the company in a professional and courteous manner.
Qualifications
- A valid in-date 7.5 tonne driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points (no DRs or any serious driving offences or past driving bans).
- A current CPC qualification and Digi Tacho card.
- Proven experience driving 7.5-tonne vehicles.
- Great communication & customer service skills.
- Strong manual handling skills for loading and unloading goods (training can be provided).
- Good understanding of road safety, transport regulations, and compliance policies.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to remain punctual, professional, and reliable under time constraints.
- Problem-solving skills to handle logistical challenges during deliveries.
- Flexibility to work varying shift patterns, where applicable.
Day-to-day
- Performing routine vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and compliance.
- Planning your route and navigating efficiently to complete daily schedules.
- Loading your vehicle with goods, ensuring all items are safely secured for transport.
- Carrying out deliveries to customers and unloading goods in a professional manner.
- Updating delivery status using a handheld device or logs as per company protocols.
- Communicating any delays or issues with the operations team.
- Following established safety protocols throughout the day to maintain a safe working environment.
- Providing friendly, helpful service to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
The standard working hours are 06:00 - 15:00 Monday to Friday (finish times may vary due to traffic, etc.).
Starting basic pay is: £16/h, overtime is paid on enhanced rates!
