About the Role
Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced Heavy Plant Fitter, Heavy Plant Technician, Mobile Plant Fitter, Plant Maintenance Engineer or Plant Mechanic to join an established heavy industrial recycling and manufacturing business in Darley Dale.
This is a permanent, Monday-Friday day shift position within a busy maintenance team, responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance, servicing, fault-finding and repair of heavy mobile plant, industrial equipment and company vehicles.
Previous experience maintaining heavy plant and mobile equipment is essential.
The Role
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and routine servicing
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and braking faults
- Maintaining and repairing heavy mobile plant and industrial equipment
- Working on engines, transmissions, hydraulics, steering, suspension and braking systems
- Investigating defects, breakdowns and equipment faults
- Carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance
- Attending on-site and off-site breakdowns where required
- Preparing plant and vehicles for statutory inspections
- Welding, fabrication, cutting and grinding where competent
- Completing maintenance records and job cards
- Maintaining a safe, clean and organised workshop
About You
We are looking for candidates with previous experience as a:
- Heavy Plant Fitter
- Heavy Plant Technician
- Mobile Plant Fitter
- Plant Maintenance Engineer
- Plant Mechanic
- Heavy Equipment Technician
- Mobile Plant Technician
You will need:
- Proven experience maintaining heavy plant or mobile equipment
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic and braking systems
- Experience working within a heavy industrial, quarrying, recycling, construction or similar environment
- Recognised Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Plant Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline is desirable
- Full UK Driving Licence desirable
