Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment are looking for an experienced Packing/Machine Operator to work for a well-established manufacturing business based in Leicestershire. This is expected to be a temp to perm position.

The Job

  • They are looking for an experienced machine operator in the production/manufacturing setting.
  • You will be responsible for maintaining the continuous running of our packaging machines.
  • You will have a number of other tasks and responsibilities to adhere to, which can include:
    • Facilitate product change overs including the loading of polyethylene reels.
    • Responsible for the effective running of the log saw as and when required.
    • Interact with the machine to solve minor issues/breakdown leading to the enhanced productivity of the machines.
    • Carry out quality checks on productions when required and report any faults to the respective person.
    • Carry out small maintenance activities and adjustments.
    • Support the colleagues in case of need and overview the end line process when required.

Shift Details

  • 4 on 4 off rotating shift (2 shifts on days 6am till 6pm then 2 shifts on nights 6pm till 6am then 4 days off).
  • During the training period the first few weeks will be on a day shift.
  • Salary £13ph during the first few weeks of training then when the training is completed the salary increases to £16.25 ph which includes 25% shift premium.

The Person

  • Previous experience operating automated packaging or production machinery.
  • Ability to carry out machine set-ups, changeovers, and basic fault finding.
  • Strong understanding of quality standards and in-process checks.
  • Commitment to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and hygiene standards.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions accurately.
  • Access to own transport due to lack of public transport at certain shift times.
