Thorn Baker have the exciting opportunity to recruit for a shop floor operative for a well known manufacturer in the NG7 area of Nottingham.
Role Overview
The Shop Floor Support Operative is a hands‑on role, focused on supporting the smooth day‑to‑day running of operations through effective material handling, stock movement, and general operational support.
The role is primarily responsible for ensuring materials and components are moved, stored, and available where needed, while also providing flexible support to despatch and assembly activities during busy periods.

- This role is a 12 week temp – perm position
- £13.45 starting salary
- Monday – Thursday 8:30am – 5pm and Friday 8:30am – 2pm
- Free onsite parking
- Core Responsibilities
- Be the primary FLT driver for deliveries, collections and internal movements
- Put away finished goods and bought in stock
- Ensure goods are stored safely and in line with batch traceability and FIFO requirements
- Provide support to the despatch department when required
- Provide support to the assembly department when required
- Assist supervisors and colleagues with physical tasks as required
- Follow manual handling requirements
- Keep work areas tidy, organised and compliant with health and safety standards
- Use tablets and PC as required
Qualifications & Experience
- RTITB Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence
- Current full, clean UK driving licence – MUST
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and care when handling materials
- Positive, flexible attitude towards supporting different tasks
- Basic understanding of health & safety in a manufacturing environment
- Computer literacy
