We are seeking a skilled and motivated Pipe Cutter to join our engineering team. The Pipe Cutter will be responsible for cutting, deburring, and grinding metal pipes to precise specifications, ensuring that all work meets high-quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with metal, experience with abrasive wheels, and a proactive approach to workplace safety. Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently cut metal pipes to required dimensions using abrasive wheel tools and other cutting equipment.
  • Perform post-cutting tasks including deburring and grinding to achieve smooth edges and high-quality finishes.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to accurately complete assigned tasks.
  • Operate all tools and equipment in compliance with safety protocols and industry standards.
  • Maintain work area and tools in clean, organized, and operational condition.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure they meet exact measurements and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to meet production deadlines.
  • Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns.
  • Stay up-to-date on new techniques and best practices for cutting and working with metal in a professional engineering environment.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in cutting pipes or similar hands-on metalwork.
  • Training and proficiency in operating abrasive wheel tools.
  • Knowledge of deburring and grinding techniques.
  • Ability to work in an engineering production environment, adhering to strict safety and quality standards.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently.

Day-to-Day

  • Begin the day with reviewing job assignments and ensuring tools and materials are prepared and ready for use.
  • Safely operate abrasive wheel cutters to cut metal pipes according to blueprints or specifications.
  • Use deburring and grinding equipment to refine pipe edges, ensuring smooth surfaces.
  • Inspect and confirm the accuracy of finished products using measuring tools.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace, regularly performing tool checks and cleaning after use.
  • Communicate with team members to coordinate tasks, resolve issues, and ensure timely completion of production goals.

Hours & Pay

  • Days: 7:00am - 3:30pm (Monday - Thursday) / 7:00am - 2:30pm (Friday) – Β£13.88 per hour
  • Afternoons: 1:30pm - 10:00pm (Monday - Thursday) / 12:30pm - 8pm (Friday) – Β£15.87 per hour
  • During training you will be on the day shift, after which you will move onto rotating shifts.
