About the Role
A quality focused housing developer seeks a Freelance Site Manager for a one-month contract based on a new build housing site in Leicestershire. The role requires a committed individual to oversee all aspects of site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. This is a full-time position offering a competitive daily rate.
Job Duties
- Manage and supervise all site activities to ensure construction progresses according to programme and quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies at all times on site.
- Coordinate and liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to maintain clear communication and efficient workflow.
- Monitor site progress, prepare daily reports, and escalate issues or delays to senior management promptly.
- Manage site resources, including labour, materials, and equipment, to optimise productivity and minimise waste.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure workmanship meets required standards and specifications.
- Implement and enforce environmental and quality assurance procedures.
- Lead toolbox talks and site meetings to promote safety awareness and resolve operational challenges.
- Ensure accurate documentation and record keeping, including risk assessments and method statements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance site efficiency and effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
- Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certification.
- Valid CSCS card (White or Black) demonstrating competency to work on site.
- Current First Aid qualification.
- Full, clean driving licence.
Experience
- Proven track record in managing new build housing projects on site.
- Experience working within residential construction environments, preferably with a housing developer or contractor.
- Demonstrable knowledge of construction processes, site management, and health and safety compliance.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong organisational and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage teams effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise confidently with all levels of personnel and external stakeholders.
- Sound understanding of construction programmes, contract documentation, and site health and safety legislation.
- Ability to identify potential risks and implement appropriate control measures promptly.
- Competent in the use of relevant site management software and tools.
Working Conditions
The role is primarily based outdoors on an active construction site in Leicestershire. Full-time hours with potential requirement for occasional early starts or extended days to meet project demands. Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory at all times on site. A commitment to maintaining a safe and clean working environment is essential.
