The Opportunity:
We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a solid background in groundworks and civil engineering to join our commercial team. You will play a key role in managing the financial aspects of multiple residential groundwork packages across the South West. This role suits someone hands-on, commercially astute, and comfortable working at pace across several live sites.
Key Responsibilities of the Quantity Surveyor:
- Oversee the commercial management of multiple groundworks packages for residential developments
- Prepare and submit payment applications, valuations, variations, and final accounts
- Monitor project progress and costs, ensuring targets and margins are met
- Procure and manage sub-contract packages
- Produce bills of quantities, cost plans, and schedules of work
- Complete monthly CVRs and financial forecasting
- Handle change control, risk management, and contractual compliance
- Work closely with site teams, engineers, clients, and stakeholders
- Ensure adherence to NEC or JCT contract terms and company procedures
Requirements of the Quantity Surveyor:
- Strong commercial awareness and solid understanding of groundworks
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and QS software (e.g., Excel, Causeway or similar)
- Full UK driving licence (travel to sites and regional offices required)
Desirable:
- Self-motivated and proactive with a problem-solving mindset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider commercial team
- Comfortable managing both internal and client-facing responsibilities
- HNC/HND or degree in Quantity Surveying (preferred, not essential)
