We are seeking a Freelance Site Manager to oversee the refurbishment of a student accommodation building.
This is a hands-on role requiring excellent organisational skills and a proactive approach to managing site operations within a tight timeframe.
- Job Duties
- Manage all on-site activities during the refurbishment project to ensure timely and safe completion in line with project specifications.
- Coordinate daily site operations, including subcontractors, suppliers, and workforce to maintain progress and quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies throughout the project duration.
- Monitor site budgets and resources, reporting any variances or issues promptly to the project manager.
- Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports, site diaries, and inspection documentation.
- Conduct regular site inspections and meetings to identify and resolve potential risks or delays.
- Liaise with client representatives, consultants, and local authorities as required.
- Implement and enforce environmental and sustainability standards appropriate to the project.
- Required Qualifications
- Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certificate
- Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card
Education
Minimum of a relevant construction-related qualification such as a Level 3 Diploma in Site Management or equivalent experience demonstrating competency in site management.
Experience
- Proven experience managing refurbishment projects, preferably within student accommodation or residential sectors.
- Experience working on medium-sized construction sites with multiple subcontractors.
- Track record of delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.
- Knowledge and Skills
- Comprehensive understanding of construction methods, regulations, and health and safety legislation.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage teams and stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contracts accurately.
- Competent in using site management software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
