Thorn Baker has teamed up with one of the UK's leading property maintenance and refurbishment groups. A national presence serving sectors such as social housing, defence, hotel and leisure, healthcare, and education, with a turnover of c.£250m and around 1,000 employees, they have grown significantly over the last few years. To support their continued and ambitious growth plans to double in size in the next 4 years, they are seeking a Contracts Manager to join their team.

Your Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage several contracts simultaneously from inception through to completion
  • Liaise effectively with clients, subcontractors, and direct labour teams
  • Attend and lead contract meetings with clients and stakeholders
  • Work closely with a dedicated administrator and experienced site supervisors to deliver industry-leading standards of quality and safety
  • Manage site-based personnel, including involvement with HR matters and performance
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, safety protocols, and project specifications
  • Contribute to the company's continuous improvement initiatives and support a positive team culture

Required Skills

  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams
  • Proven experience in a contracts management role within construction, refurbishment, or fire protection industries
  • Experience working with both direct and subcontract labour
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, manage deadlines, and adapt to a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with specialist software such as Bolster and PlanRadar is advantageous but not essential
  • Knowledge of fire sealing and passive fire protection systems is beneficial
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to grow with a forward-thinking company
