Responsibilities
- Carry out first line response to any CNC machine downtime
- Support all TPM activities for CNC machines (design, implementation and ongoing activities)
- Liaise with the CNC manufacturers/service engineering groups
- Work with others to maintain a PDCA continuous improvement cycle within CNC manufacturing groups
- Work with local cell leadership to ensure appropriate machining techniques and procedures are followed by the operators
- Ensure machines are running to the required maximum potential/efficiency
- Follow the procurement process when adding new equipment to the CNC value streams
- Support a culture of 5S in CNC machining areas
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop future strategies to support our CNC machining teams
- Troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis in the case of a disruption to the value stream
- Train senior operators where appropriate for PM activities
Qualifications
- Apprenticeship trained or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years as a CNC Service/Maintenance Engineer
- Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance experience on CNC multi‑axis mills
- Strong understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, vacuum systems and PLC diagnostics & programming
- Electrical fault‑finding and basic 3‑phase practical work
- Experience with Fanuc / Haas control systems
- Core competency in multi axis milling machines
- Ability to multitask, time manage and work independently
- Attention to detail and creative approach to problem solving
- Experience in implementing TPM programs, including risk assessing assets and making recommendations on critical spares
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance (PM) schedules
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance systems and maintenance management software
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies TPM, Kaizen, 5S and experience applying them to maintenance operations
