Overview
We are seeking an experienced private client lawyer to join the Practical Law Private Client team in the UK.
About The Role
As a Senior Specialist Legal Editor in Practical Law, you will use your specialist legal knowledge of, and experience in, private client law and practice to create and maintain a wide range of content and to support the development of Thomson Reuters AI-powered legal solutions. Working in a supportive team of highly experienced colleagues, you will deal with a breadth of interesting work.
Major responsibilities/accountabilities
- Research, write and maintain clear, current, and practical legal content aligned with market practice and customer needs, and business objectives.
- Review and edit content written by others, whether by colleagues or external expert contributors.
- Keep up to date with legal, practice and market developments to ensure content remains accurate, relevant and aligned with business objectives.
- Use your legal expertise to support the development of customer-focused Thomson Reuters AI-powered legal solutions.
- Use your legal expertise and editorial skills to support the development and application of internal AI editorial tools.
- Develop and maintain relationships with lawyers and industry groups to ensure content reflects current market practice.
- Use your specialist legal knowledge to assist the wider Thomson Reuters team, working with product management, sales, marketing, and technology functions where necessary.
This is a part‑time position based on a four‑day workweek.
About You
You\’re a fit for the role if you are a UK qualified solicitor or barrister and have:
- Substantial post-qualification experience of working as a private client lawyer in a law firm, in-house or at the bar in England and Wales.
- Extensive experience of advising clients on complex wills and trusts; estate and succession planning, including inheritance tax (IHT), capital gains tax (CGT) and related reliefs (BPR, APR, RNRB).
- Strong writing skills, and a passion for writing about legal practice accurately, concisely and in plain English.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively independently and in teams.
- Strong technical skills and the ability to effectively utilize various tools, including generative AI technologies, to enhance productivity and accuracy.
- Adaptability and flexibility to work on diverse projects and tasks within the generative AI space as well as new and emerging technologies.
- A curious mindset, including about the increasing intersection of AI and legal practice, adaptable and open to change.
- Experience of using AI tools in legal work.
