Global Statutory Reporting is a division of Thomson Reuters' Chief Accounting Office and supports the CAO's mission to maintain, through its financial reporting, the reputation of Thomson Reuters as a trusted company so that we can compete effectively in global capital markets.

About The Role

In this opportunity as an Accounting Manager, you will:

  • Be responsible for leading a team of Legal Entity controllers, covering European countries, to deliver world-class performance of local statutory reporting duties whilst ensuring that operations are carried out in a cost-effective manner.
  • Partner with a wide network of key internal and external stakeholders in order to meet expectations and deliver value to Thomson Reuters.
  • Deliver timely and accurate reporting of local statutory accounts by accounting to local standards and satisfying the requirements of external statutory auditors.
  • Deliver timely and accurate reporting of local direct tax and indirect tax returns.
  • Provide information to and oversee the deliverables of local professional accounting and taxation reporting service providers where local statutory reporting work is outsourced.
  • Ensure compliance with legal entity corporate secretarial requirements through oversight of the execution of corporate secretarial duties that are outsourced to local professional corporate secretarial service providers.

About You

You're a fit for the role of Accounting Manager if you have the following required qualifications:

  • Managing, training, developing and motivating a solid, business-oriented, high-performance team of Legal Entity Controllers.
  • Oversee local statutory reporting, tax reporting and routine corporate secretarial processes ensuring that both the team of Legal Entity Controllers and outsourced professional services partners meet expectations, deliver on agreed timetables and take full ownership of reporting and co sec duties and deliverables.
  • Oversee the relationship with external statutory auditors and ensure the timely and complete delivery of responses to meet auditor requirements.
  • Work with outsourced professional services local partners to understand and comply with ongoing legal entity local statutory and tax reporting obligations and local co sec requirements.
  • Oversee records retention processes and ensure that statutory requirements for records retention are met.
  • Regularly review the effectiveness of local statutory reporting, tax reporting and routine co sec processes and controls and assess statutory/tax reporting and co sec compliance risks.
  • Under the supervisory direction of Tax: provide timely responses to inquiries from local tax authorities; coordinate timely legal entity responses to local tax audit requirements including identifying and notifying internal stakeholders of any expected support and following up to ensure timely delivery of support.
  • Budget for and manage costs of outsourced professional services vendors to ensure that Plan is not exceeded.
  • Oversee the performance and maintenance of documentary evidence of key SOX Controls.
  • Regular balance sheet and P&L reviews.
  • Monitor the month end close process for the region supported and ensuring critical processes and reconciliation obligations are met.
  • Managing the relationship with key internal and external stakeholders including Tax, BU Controllers, Corporate Compliance, Treasury, Business Finance, Genpact, external auditors, tax authorities, statutory reporting regulators, corporate regulators and outsourced professional service providers.

Additional Preferred Qualifications Include:

  • Proficient in spoken and written English (mandatory), another European language would be beneficial.
  • Internationally recognized professional accounting qualification is required.
  • 8+ years experience working in accounting and finance roles.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience of local tax & statutory reporting requirements and legal entity statutory audit requirements.
  • Strong knowledge & practical experience of IFRS and local GAAP accounting.
  • Prior experience in a shared services finance function/centralized controller function is highly regarded.
  • Proven ability to form strong customer relationships, an understanding of customer focus and service delivery.
  • Strong work ethic with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Clear and effective communication and interpersonal skills and leadership qualities.
  • Drive & self motivation with the ability to work independently and deliver under pressure.
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and responsiveness.
