Leading international law firm is looking to hire a mid-to-senior Associate to join their high-ranking Power team based in Edinburgh.

Role Profile:

  • The role will give exposure to the full spectrum of areas in this sector, including: Commercial, Regulatory, Other regulated utility sectors such as gas and water.
  • The work regularly involves advising a broad range of some of the world’s leading energy companies, independent developers and project financiers on some of the highest value and most innovative transactions and projects in the UK and internationally.
  • Advising sectoral clients on their day-to-day regulatory and commercial matters.
  • Working alongside a highly experienced and specialised team to gain a deeper understanding of the legal, industry and commercial arrangements across the power and renewables sector.
  • Becoming a recognised sector expert.

Candidate Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be a qualified lawyer ideally with 3 to 8 years’ experience in the energy sector from a corporate, construction or commercial background.
  • Excellent professional track record within a large law firm.
  • Experience in handling high value clients in major blue chip companies.
  • Excellent analytical and drafting skills.
  • A commitment to learning about the intricacies of the power and renewables sectors.
  • A willingness to travel.
  • The ability to understand the economic, technical and financial context within which the legal and regulatory advice is provided.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-disciplinary team on larger projects and transactions.
  • Well-organised with strong administration and time management skills.
  • The ability and drive to meet demanding deadlines.
