As Legal Director, you will lead advisory on construction and infrastructure matters for a top-tier UK firm. You will work within a renowned Construction Projects team handling complex, high-profile projects across the UK and beyond, collaborating with developers, contractors and funders. The role offers hybrid options and regional bases in Edinburgh or Glasgow, combining senior responsibility with mentoring and business development. Responsibilities

  • Advise developers, contractors, funders and professionals on transactional construction matters and coordinate with Real Estate
  • Lead on stand-alone construction/engineering projects for both developer and contractor sides
  • Counsel on construction aspects of cutting-edge energy projects
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships as a trusted advisor
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated legal solutions
  • Stay informed on industry trends, legal developments, and best practices in construction law
  • Mentor and support junior team members
  • Contribute to business development, including client pitches and proposals
  • Participate in thought leadership, such as writing articles and delivering presentations

Key requirements

  • Qualified solicitor in Scotland or England Wales with circa 7+ PQE in Construction Law
  • Proven track record advising on complex construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of JCT, NEC and FIDIC forms as well as bespoke contracts
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
