Excellent opportunity for a commercial contracts lawyer to join the highly successful in-house team of a major financial services institution. This role will be an initial 12 month fixed term contract and can be based in Edinburgh or Glasgow with hybrid-working on offer.
Role Profile: The Legal Team enjoys the privilege of overseeing all aspects of the business and acts as strategic advisors to stakeholders. This role would be ideal for a commercial contracts lawyer who either has financial services expertise or is looking to develop this. In the role of Legal Counsel, you will identify and manage legal risk in delivering targeted, commercially focused legal advice on corporate, commercial and regulatory legal matters across the business including:
- Negotiating and advising upon third party service, data and software contracts.
- Advising on general commercial and regulatory legal queries.
Candidate Requirements:
- Qualified solicitor with valid practising certificate in a UK jurisdiction (practising certificates in relevant overseas jurisdictions may be considered).
- Significant commercial legal experience either in-house or in private practice.
- Track record of delivering pragmatic, risk-based legal advice.
- Experience of strong relationship management (both internal and external stakeholders).
- Experience in the finance or technology sectors would be advantageous and desirable.
- Experience in the retail financial services sector would be desirable.
