Role Profile:

As In-House Legal Advisor, you will support our Head of Legal & Compliance as they continue to build out Leyton’s expanding Legal & Compliance function. Working closely with our Legal Assistant, you will primarily focus on reviewing, preparing and negotiating client agreements, consultancy agreements and supplier contracts, as well as leading on resolution of post-signature matters. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to support the effective management of a variety of legal and regulatory matters, including in relation to anti-money laundering and data protection. As such, this role requires a team player with excellent communication skills and a thorough working knowledge of contract law and compliance matters. There will also be opportunities to drive process improvement, contract automation and business-wide training on relevant legal and regulatory matters as the Legal & Compliance function expands, therefore an interest in these areas and a willingness to think creatively is vital in this role.

  • General Legal Support: As a first point of contact for Legal & Compliance team to internal clients and stakeholders, triaging enquiries and responding to requests for support with efficiency and professionalism. Assisting Head of Legal & Compliance in preparing and delivering business-wide training on relevant legal and regulatory matters.

Competencies:

  • Legal and Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough working knowledge of contract law, including reviewing and preparing legal agreements such as engagement letters, consultancy agreements, supplier contracts and general terms and conditions. Understanding of anti-money laundering (AML) regulations and data protection obligations. Ability to apply legal knowledge pragmatically to business situations, including post-signature matters.

  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Works closely with the Head of Legal & Compliance, Legal Assistant and wider teams, recognising that legal is a valued business partner, not a barrier. Point of escalation for Legal Assistant on contractual and compliance matters. Open to feedback and proactive in supporting a newly growing function.
  • Confidentiality and Integrity: Handles sensitive information with discretion, ensuring confidentiality and data security at all times. Upholds Leyton’s ethical standards and values in all legal and compliance matters.
  • Organisational Skills: Manages multiple tasks and deadlines, sometimes under pressure and to tight deadlines. Keeps clear records of legal documents and correspondence to ensure auditability and compliance.
