A national law firm is looking to add to their team with the hire of additional lawyers to join their high-profile Defender Insurance Team.
Role Profile:
The Defender Insurance team provides a full, expert service in defending public (PL) and employers' liability (EL) claims, across the private sector and the public sector. The team is second-to-none in providing litigation defence services in these and other specialist Casualty areas and operates on a national basis with dedicated commercial insurance, motor, disease, regulatory and public sector teams. As part of a wider specialism, we have a dedicated Casualty Fraud team.
You will work in a dedicated insurance team based out of Glasgow with your own varied caseload of predominantly pre and litigated disease claims as well as EL/PL claims, motor/fraud and assist with high value and complex claims. The firm receives direct instructions from both insureds and insurers, as well as local authorities. You will be responsible for the running of the day to day of your cases including liaising with clients, opponents, court, witnesses and undertaking your own liability investigations.
Main Responsibilities:
- Predominantly PI including EL, PL and Disease and Motor.
- Work as part of a team providing a comprehensive range of legal advice and representation to the teamβs clients.
- Assist the Team Manager and other Partners with their cases, client development, client training, networking and potentially public speaking where required.
- Complete MI procedures as and when required.
- Achieve set financial and chargeable targets.
- Ensure relevant deadlines, SLAs, quality measures and KPIs are adhered to.
- Comply with relevant policies and procedures.
About You:
Ideally you will have previous experience and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work. As the role is varied, we are looking for you to have a flexible approach to the work you do and be able to adapt to different tasks. Ideally you will have the following experience:
- Previous experience at managing the defence of EL/PL casualty claims is essential.
- Previous experience at managing the defence of motor/fraud/disease claims is desirable.
- Excellent knowledge of Court of Session and Sheriff Court procedure preferable.
- Experience of handling own caseload.
- Good influencing skills.
- Good communication skills.
