Leading international company is looking to hire a Senior Legal Counsel on a Remote Basis with one day a week in the office required in Edinburgh. You will assist in delivering strategic and commercially focused legal support across the business, assisting with legal operations, manage risk in complex regulatory environments, and enable growth through practical, solution-driven legal advice.
Responsibilities will include:
- Commercial Contracts - Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial agreements including global sales contracts, tenders, supplier agreements and IP licences. Trusted legal partner to Sales, Customer Service and Procurement, balancing legal risk with commercial objectives across multiple jurisdictions. Support revenue-generating activities by structuring legally robust but business-enabling contract solutions.
- Data Protection & Regulatory Compliance - Provide legal advice on GDPR and data protection matters, supporting operational compliance and risk mitigation. Advise on competition law, anti-bribery and broader regulatory obligations in partnership with compliance and leadership teams. Monitor legal and regulatory developments, translating change into practical business guidance.
- Governance, Risk & Legal Operations - Support corporate governance and legal entity management activities. Manage contract governance processes, including contract repositories and signing controls. Identify, assess and mitigate legal risks, improving legal documentation, reporting and internal processes. Report key legal risks and trends to senior leadership and risk stakeholders.
Candidate Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor (Scotland or England & Wales) with circa 3-4 years PQE. Candidates from in-house or private practice are invited to apply.
- Experience negotiating complex, commercial contracts.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation.
