Job Description
One of Scotland's most successful law firms are looking to hire a Legal Director to head up their Corporate Practice in Edinburgh. As a Senior Corporate Lawyer, you will lead and manage corporate transactions for commercial clients—ranging from SMEs to FTSE-listed firms—including M&A, restructurings, joint ventures, and corporate governance.
Role Profile:
- Lead all stages of corporate transactions, including due diligence, drafting and negotiating complex documentation, and managing closing processes working closely with the other offices of the firm.
- Provide high-quality advisory work on M&A, restructures, joint ventures, equity fundraising, and strategic corporate planning.
- Draft and negotiate a range of commercial contracts and ancillary agreements.
- Supervise and mentor Associates and Solicitors, offering guidance and development.
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments (e.g., tax, real estate, dispute resolution) to assemble integrated solutions.
- Drive business development by building client relationships, contributing to pitch materials, and enhancing the firm’s presence in the market.
Candidate Requirements:
- Senior Associate, Director or Partner level lawyer with strong background in corporate law.
- Proven experience in high-value, complex corporate transactions.
- Strong analytical skills with excellent drafting and negotiation ability.
- Business-savvy with a clear commercial mindset.
- Exceptional client management and communication—both written and oral.
- Leadership ability to supervise, delegate, and guide junior staff.
- Highly organised, with adept time-management to manage multiple matters.
