Opportunity to join a global financial services company as an Assistant Vice President (AVP) - Technology & Commercial Lawyer. This role can be based in Glasgow, Birmingham or Manchester with hybrid-working on offer.
Role Profile:
- To ensure that the commercial, innovation, technology, real estate, sponsorship, data licensing and service activities (CIT Areas) are conducted in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and to help the bank manage legal and reputational risks associated with these activities.
- Development and implementation of best practice legal strategies for risk management and compliance.
- Legal advice and support to the business on CIT Areas, including regulatory advice and advocacy, innovation and technology strategy, and contract drafting, review and negotiation.
- Representation of the bank in legal proceedings related to CIT Areas, such as litigation, arbitration, and regulatory investigations.
- Creation and review of legal documents including agreements and licenses for commercial services, technology, software, data, real estate, and sponsorship to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Legal research and analysis to stay up to date on changes in laws and regulations that may impact the bank across the CIT Areas.
- Developing and delivering training programmes to educate employees on legal and regulatory requirements related to the CIT Areas.
- Pro-active identification, communication, and provision of legal advice on applicable laws, rules and regulations (LRRs).
- Keeping up to date with regards to changes to LRRs in the relevant coverage area.
- Ensuring that LRRs are effectively allocated to, and adequately reflected within, the relevant policies, standards and controls.
- To advise and influence decision making, contribute to policy development and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.
- Collaborate closely with other functions/business divisions.
Candidate Requirements:
- Solutions-focused senior qualified lawyer with relevant post-qualification experience advising on a range of commercial and technology agreements, supplier, client and partner facing – including, software licenses, hardware and software maintenance, SaaS and cloud services, sponsorship, professional services, data and index licensing and PoCs.
- Experience advising on and managing legal risk arising in compliance with organisational policies and standards, including advising on ways to embed better risk management across the organisation.
