Our leading Investment Banking client is looking for a Synthetics Lead Developer (VP level) to join a front office technology team supporting a global platform for synthetics and financing. This is a hands-on leadership role working directly with Trading and product teams to build high-performance systems across pricing, risk and trade lifecycle.
What you’ll be doing:
- Working closely with front office stakeholders to gather and deliver on business requirements
- Leading the design and development of low-latency, event-driven systems
- Building scalable microservices-based applications for equity derivatives platforms
- Driving architecture, system design and performance optimisation
- Contributing across pricing, risk capture and trade lifecycle management
- Collaborating with global engineering teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
- Ensuring code quality through testing, reviews and engineering best practices
What we’re looking for:
- Strong Java development experience
- Experience with greenfield architecture/ platform builds
- Experience building event-driven / distributed systems (Kafka, Solace or similar)
- Proven track record working on low-latency, high-performance platforms
- Experience working in front office or markets technology environments
- Exposure to equity derivatives, synthetics or prime services is highly beneficial
Desirable skills:
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and concurrency
- Experience with observability / distributed tracing
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern engineering practices
- Experience working in global teams and complex system environments
