Our leading Investment Banking client is looking for a Synthetics Lead Developer (VP level) to join a front office technology team supporting a global platform for synthetics and financing. This is a hands-on leadership role working directly with Trading and product teams to build high-performance systems across pricing, risk and trade lifecycle.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Working closely with front office stakeholders to gather and deliver on business requirements
  • Leading the design and development of low-latency, event-driven systems
  • Building scalable microservices-based applications for equity derivatives platforms
  • Driving architecture, system design and performance optimisation
  • Contributing across pricing, risk capture and trade lifecycle management
  • Collaborating with global engineering teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
  • Ensuring code quality through testing, reviews and engineering best practices

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong Java development experience
  • Experience with greenfield architecture/platform builds
  • Experience building event-driven/distributed systems (Kafka, Solace or similar)
  • Proven track record working on low-latency, high-performance platforms
  • Experience working in front office or markets technology environments
  • Exposure to equity derivatives, synthetics or prime services is highly beneficial

Desirable skills:

  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and concurrency
  • Experience with observability/distributed tracing
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and modern engineering practices
  • Experience working in global teams and complex system environments
