What the role involves:
At Thompsons, you will manage high-quality clinical negligence cases from the initial interview through to settlement, working within a supportive and collaborative team including specialist paralegal support. You will represent both private clients and trade union members. You will retain an appropriate case holding and be responsible for all aspects of running those cases from evidence gathering, instructing counsel and taking an active role in conferences with counsel and experts, JSMs/ADR and progressing cases to trial, including split trials where appropriate, in addition to profit costs forecasting and liaising with our in‑house costs team on costs recovery. Our Clinical Negligence Lawyers handle a wide range of multi‑track cases ranging from misdiagnoses to complex cases involving brain, spinal and birth injuries requiring comprehensive rehabilitation packages.
Who we are looking for:
We are keen to hear from qualified solicitors or legal executives with up‑to‑date knowledge of the law relating to clinical negligence and the civil litigation process; we are open to exploring opportunities for candidates with all levels of experience within this specialist area. As well as excellent communication and client care skills, demonstrating an ability to empathise with vulnerable clients is essential. The ability to construct clear and effective arguments, yielding the best results for our clients is also key. We are looking for team players who enjoy engaging in marketing and business development opportunities, together with proven competency and expertise in the field of clinical negligence. For more senior candidates, this may be by accreditation with either the Law Society or AVMA, or other relevant professional memberships.
