The Opportunity:
As a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our production facility through effective maintenance, fault-finding, and repair of a range of mechanical and electrical equipment. You will support both planned and reactive maintenance activities, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and help minimize production downtime.
Key Tasks of a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production machinery and equipment
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and carry out effective fault diagnosis and repair
- Work with both mechanical and electrical systems (bias can be considered)
- Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery upgrades
- Ensure all maintenance work is carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide on-call support as part of a rota to respond to out-of-hours issues
Requirements / Ideal Skill set of a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer:
- Time-served apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND)
- Proven experience in a similar maintenance engineering role, ideally within a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical maintenance techniques
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Experience with PLCs, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, and automated systems is advantageous
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility to provide on-call cover as required
Desirable:
- Experience in the animal feed, food, or process manufacturing industry
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles
