The Opportunity
Thompson & Terry Recruitment are proudly working alongside one of our value-led, long standing Newbury-based clients who are looking to recruit an HR Advisor to join their super-friendly and growing team. As HR Advisor, every day will be really varied as you will be working with a wide range of small businesses across Newbury and South Oxfordshire to support their ongoing HR needs. It is therefore really important that the successful candidate is confident in providing accurate HR advice and enjoys a challenge.
Being the first point of contact for incoming HR queries both via email and the telephone, on a day-to-day basis the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting clients with the full HR and ER cycle. This role will also include regular visits to clients and working closely with managers and employees to provide effective and accurate HR support.
Thompson & Terry Recruitment’s client works with businesses across several sectors and day-to-day duties can range from providing one-off support to advising on company-wide restructures or creating new HR and ER initiatives (e.g. improving benefits packs or outlining clear documentation on company culture), therefore it is vital that the successful candidate is adaptable and quick to learn.
Whilst the role is varied, and you will have the opportunity to work with clients on the full HR cycle, employee relations will be a large part of the role. Therefore, it is vital the successful HR Advisor is confident to professionally manage difficult situations in line with HR best practice.

Requirements
- Experience working on employee relations cases within an HR job with the strong desire to continue learning in a varied and rewarding position long-term
- CIPD qualified or working towards a CIPD qualification
- A strong attention to detail and highly organised with the ability to work on a number of projects at one time
- An excellent telephone manner and fantastic verbal and written communication skills
- A real team player, who is commercially aware and able to ‘wear many hats’
- Excellent understanding of UK employment law, HR best practice and compliance
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle to travel to client sites
