Role Description
The Mechanical Fitter role is a full-time, on-site position based in Scunthorpe. The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment and machinery used across industrial and engineering projects. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing mechanical issues, performing routine and preventive maintenance, fitting components to specification, and ensuring machinery operates safely and efficiently. The role involves working with tools and workshop equipment, interpreting technical drawings, collaborating with engineers and other technicians, and completing accurate maintenance and repair records. The Mechanical Fitter is expected to follow all safety procedures, contribute to continuous improvement, and support reliable project delivery for clients.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical fitting skills, including Fitting and working with a range of Machinery.
- Experience with Machining operations, using workshop tools and equipment safely and accurately.
- Knowledge of Maintenance practices, including fault finding, repairs, and servicing of mechanical systems.
- Ability to carry out Preventive Maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Relevant vocational qualification or apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in industrial settings.
- Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible approach to working hours and willingness to support site-based and project-based requirements.
