Graduate Structural Engineer in Newtownabbey

Thompson Barr Consulting LLP is seeking a motivated Graduate Structural Engineer to join our growing civil and structural engineering consultancy based in Whiteabbey, Northern Ireland.

This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate engineer to develop practical design experience across a varied portfolio of commercial, residential, refurbishment and domestic projects, while working closely with experienced chartered engineers.

The Role

· Assist with the structural design and analysis of buildings and associated civil engineering works.

· Prepare calculations, sketches, technical notes and design reports under supervision.

· Support the production and coordination of structural drawings and details.

· Attend site visits and assist with inspections, surveys and project meetings.

· Work collaboratively with clients, architects, contractors and other consultants.

· Develop knowledge of UK design standards, construction methods and professional practice.

About You

· Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a closely related discipline.

· Familiar with Eurocodes and their application to structural design.

· Strong analytical, written and communication skills.

· Confident using Microsoft Office; experience with structural design or drafting software would be advantageous.

· Enthusiastic, organised and willing to learn within a small, supportive consultancy environment.

· A practical approach to problem-solving and a strong interest in building design and construction.
