The post holder will be responsible for supporting Manufacturing Engineering activities in one or a combination of the following areas of responsibilities:
- Product design
- Process design
- Equipment/Tool design
- Production system design
- Automated systems and control
- Quality & continuous Improvement
Responsibilities:
- Programming 3 and 5 axis CNC Milling Machines
- Cutting tool selection and work holding tool design
- Validating programming quality through part FAI
- Creation of machine set up sheets & operator work instructions
- Improving and working to lean manufacturing process
- Ensuring the safety of both employees and machinery
- Training / mentoring less experienced programmers within the department
- Liaise with tooling and software manufacturers to drive Continuous Improvement
- Investigate and apply techniques to reduce cycle times and explore new technology to improve workshop throughput

Requirements:
- Essential:
- 3 years' machining experience
- 3 years' offline programming experience using a CAM package (Mastercam Hypermill / Delcam / Catia or equivalent)
- Experience working within a lean Manufacturing environment
- Be able to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Possess strong computer skills to include all programs in the Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Good time management skills
- Flexible attitude to changing deadlines
- Desirable:
- Working knowledge of Fanuc and Heidenhain controls
- Relevant Manufacturing/Engineering degree or HND, BTec Professional Level 5 Award or equivalent NVQ Level 5 qualifications
