The post holder will be responsible for supporting Manufacturing Engineering activities in one or a combination of the following areas of responsibilities:

  • Automated systems and control
  • Quality & continuous Improvement

Responsibilities

  • Programming 3 and 5 axis CNC Milling Machines
  • Cutting tool selection and work holding tool design
  • Validating programming quality through part FAI
  • Creation of machine set up sheets & operator work instructions
  • Improving and working to lean manufacturing process
  • Ensuring the safety of both employees and machinery
  • Training / mentoring less experienced programmers within the department
  • Liaisingwith tooling and software manufacturers to drive Continuous Improvement
  • Investigatingand applying techniques to reduce cycle times and exploringnew technology to improve workshop throughput

Requirements

  • 3 years' machining experience
  • 3 years' offline programming experience using a CAM package. (Mastercam Hypermill / Delcam / Catia or equivalent)
  • Experience working within a lean Manufacturing environment
  • Be able to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Possess strong computer skills to include all programs in the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Flexible attitude to changing deadlines
  • Working knowledge of Fanuc and Heidenhain controls
  • Relevant Manufacturing/Engineering degree or HND, BTec Professional Level 5 Award or equivalent NVQ Level 5 qualifications
