The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that all products are manufactured to the required quality and design standards. Responsible for identifying and raising non-conformances and any quality related areas for improvement to the operations and quality teams to ensure a prompt resolution. This role is permanent continental night shift 19:30-07:30.
Responsibilities
- Perform independent product verification checks to ensure parts conform to drawings and design specifications.
- Be able to work to tight tolerances required in a machine shop environment.
- Follow general inspection guidelines to conduct cosmetic, dimensional, mechanical, and functional inspections on a wide variety of components and materials.
- Follow all health & safety procedures and report accidents and near misses.
- Provide direct feedback to the area’s Quality Assurance Engineer, Lead, Technical Lead and Operators after each formal inspection.
- Participate in Material Review Boards and authorise or reject proposed product dispositions (Use As-Is, Rework, Scrap and Return to Vendor).
- Offer recommendations to resolve recurring deficiencies found during inspections.
- Where necessary conduct first article inspection of parts.
- Maintain necessary inspection logs and write inspection reports.
- Provide training as required to address deficiencies identified during audits/inspection.
- Participate in start of shift meetings to ensure clear understanding of planned activities and targets.
- Conduct daily product audits using the product audit checklist.
- Ensure inspection areas are always clean, tidy and FOD free.
- Report any/all unapproved rework to Quality Assurance Engineer and Assembly/Manufacturing Manager.
- Ensure all paperwork for product is correctly controlled during inspection.
- Ensure complete handover to counterpart on next shift.

Requirements
- Essential
- 1 years' previous experience in a Quality role/ Quality environment
- Proficient in using Microsoft Word and functionalities within Excel
- Working knowledge of a Quality Management System (QMS)
- 1 years' experience working in a Manufacturing environment
- Machine Shop experience or a strong appreciation for machining processes
- Machine Shop apprenticeship or engineering background
- Able to demonstrate experience using calibrated inspection measurement tools such as micrometers and callipers etc to required tolerances
- Ability to perform inspections using inspection instructions, documentation, and standard/ required processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and/ or instructions
- Detailed focus on product requirements
- Have awareness of how to conduct First Article Inspections.
