Join to apply for the Engineering Associate role at Thompson Aero Seating Limited. The post holder will work within multi-disciplinary Engineering teams to deliver design solutions for new concepts and customization of existing products for global customers, ensuring delivery within cost, time, and quality standards, while adhering to strict aerospace regulations.
There are three specialisms within the Engineering Associate roles:
- Mechanical Design Responsibilities:
- Produce 3D models of parts and assemblies
- Create 2D detail drawings of parts and assemblies
- Design electrical harness routing and equipment layouts
- Configure assemblies and BOMs
- Release and manage engineering drawings following company procedures
- Support prototype hardware build and contribute to design solutions
- Work collaboratively within project teams and deliver work packages as per project plans
- Electrical Design Responsibilities:
- Liaise with third-party vendors for project support
- Support prototyping considering cost, safety, and time constraints
- Create documentation such as Test Plans and Reports for electrical testing
- Provide ongoing electrical support throughout project lifecycle
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving build and test issues
- Certification Responsibilities:
- Prepare specifications, test plans, and reports for aircraft seating
- Work with vendors and internal teams to ensure product compliance and airworthiness
- Manage concessions to maintain continued airworthiness
- Support troubleshooting and product investigation efforts
- Design new products to meet reliability and airworthiness standards

Requirements:
- Minimum Level 5 qualification in relevant Engineering discipline
- 3D CAD modelling skills
- Experience in design or engineering roles
- Strong communication, organizational, and IT skills
- Ability to develop technical solutions considering manufacturing and certification principles
Desirable:
- Experience with sheet metal, machined, or plastic vacuum-formed parts
- Experience with electrical equipment and layout modeling
- Knowledge of Catia V6 software
- Experience with test plans/reports and regulatory certification rules
- Understanding of CFR Part 25 aircraft design guidelines
